Inspection
Inspection
At every chimney sweep, our technicians perform a visual inspection of the smoke chamber, smoke shelf, damper and hearth of the fireplace after the flue has been cleaned. The aim of this procedure is to ensure that your chimney is in proper and, above all, SAFE condition.
This process is then repeated from the top of the chimney. We inspect the outside of the flue and the masonry lining, if applicable. To better serve you, we’ll also perform a cursory inspection of shingles, roof ventilators (Maximum), dryer vent outlets and eavestroughs.
APC and CSAC recommend that ALL masonry chimneys be inspected at least once a year to ensure that they are safe, structurally sound and cleaned as required. Once the technician has completed the sweeping and inspection, he will provide the customer with a summary evaluation report of the system.

INSPECTION LEVEL #1
(basic)
If your installation or chimney has not been changed and you plan to use it in the same way as in previous years, a Level 1 inspection is recommended. It is recommended for installations that have had regular maintenance and have not undergone any major changes. Our technicians will be able to inspect the interior, exterior and visible connections of the unit. They will also ensure that the flue is free of blockages and combustible deposits.
INSPECTION LEVEL #2
(written report)
Level 2 is required if a major change is made to the heating system, such as a change of combustion appliance or fuel type, or a change in the size, shape or type of flue.
Level 2 is also recommended in the event of a real estate transaction, appliance malfunction or chimney fire.
The second level of inspection includes checking accessible sections in attics, false ceilings or basements.
INSPECTION LEVEL #3
(inspection by camera)
If a suspected anomaly during the inspection cannot be confirmed due to lack of visual access, a Level 3 inspection may be required to ensure that the system design is adequate. Opening or demolition work may be involved in this type of inspection.
